Read More About Lone Tree

Today, Lone Tree, Iowa is a close-knit community where education and local pride play a central role in daily life. The town’s school serves students from kindergarten through high school in one building, fostering strong connections among families and residents who actively support student success. Lone Tree also offers a variety of local businesses, including a grocery store, restaurants, a floral shop, and medical offices, providing convenient everyday services. A recently added fitness facility further enhances the community by offering modern amenities that support an active and healthy lifestyle.

Lone Tree History

Lone Tree, Iowa was established in 1872 by John W. Jayne and was named after a single elm tree that once stood prominently on the prairie, serving as a natural landmark for early travelers. Local legend says the tree was so large that buffalo were known to graze beneath its branches. The iconic tree remained a symbol of the community until the 1960s, when disease caused it to decline beyond saving. Wood from the original tree was later used to create a commemorative sign, now placed near the location where the historic landmark once stood.

Lone Tree Fitness Center:
This newly opened facility has everything for someone wanted to get in shape or wanting to maintain an active lifestyle. It is over 55,000 square feet and features an aquatics center with three 25-yard lap lanes, a massive slide for kids, a hot tub and a leisure pool with a lazy river.
