Fruitland Community

One of Muscatine County’s largest growing towns, Fruitland has a population of around 1,000. According to an Iowa State University study, this population increase is due to low property taxes and affordable housing.

In Fruitland, there is a sense of community and an understanding that residents can rely on each other. It’s a type of town where anyone would lend you a hand if you are in need. Residents proved this after the 2007 tornado where everyone worked together to rebuild the town from loading wood to fixing up homes.

Regarded as a friendly town, Fruitland organizes many town-wide events including Fruitland Fun Days, a city-wide yard sale and bingo fundraisers. Residents even worked together to reform the Park Board with the mission to update Drake Park in 2010. The park received a new playground surface and more up-to-date equipment, which helped improve its appeal to residents.

Attractions and Entertainment

Drake Park: Located on Pine Street, Drake park features a rubber, safe surface for children to play on and new handicap accessible equipment. There are swings, monkey bars and even toddler toys for kids. Residents can even reserve shelters at the park for private events.
